Nike space Hippie
(Jones. R, 2020)
What I chose for this case study is the space hippie from Nike.
Nike used waste materials from factories and recycled "space waste yarns" to make sneakers. The sneakers, called Space Hippie, are Nike's experimental work to reduce the carbon impact of its products and move toward a network environment (Hitti. N, 2020). The top part of the space hippie is woven from what Nike calls a "space waste thread." This thread is made of 100% recycled materials such as plastic water bottles, T-shirts, and fabric racks. Even when design elements are combined, it has a recycling rate of 90% in total (Hitti. N, 2020).
(Nick, Fewings. 2020)
The reason why I chose this design is that it is made of recycled materials only. This shows a recycling rate of 90% even with design elements added. Also, various products such as T-shirts, water bottles, hangers, etc. will be used for de-use, so it will be possible to expand the use method to various extent as well as shoes. Then, various products will be used to reduce the damage to the self-employed environment. To further develop this, the design part would be the biggest. Because no matter how recyclable the shoes are, people choose a better shoe design even if they have a good effect on the environment. Therefore, it can only give consumers the perception that it is a good product for the environment. To change this perception, there is a way to develop the design of Space Hippie or make all shoes recyclable like Space Hippie. I think that if both of these methods are applied, a design that will satisfy both the environment and the customer will be created.
So I think that in the near future, most shoes will be able to be easily used, so a design that can satisfy both the natural environment and customers will be created.
